"Brooke has been able to say simple words since she was six months Reese. Where have you been?" Christian chuckled. Of course he hadn't been there to hear her first couple of words. It had been hard trying to get her to do anything particularly spectacular during his ridiculously short supervised visits that he had to endure. His child was unusually smart for her age, everyone said so. Even her healer. All Tait's were born that way, advanced in some aspect. "Nate will be getting there soon..he isn't that much younger than Brooke. Is he sitting up on his own yet?"

Reese blinked, “hu? Ow…well guess I have not been around much then have I?” Brooke was already saying a few words? She ran a hand through her hair while she tried to remember whether she already knew that or not. Still she couldn’t remember anything so probably Brooke had never said anything before when Reese had been around. “Yeah but not that frequently just yet, every other day he manages to do so. Sometimes he tumbles over though.”

Christian smiled, stroking her arm absently as he gazed up at the stars. He adored her little Nathan, almost as much as he did his own child. "It's all a part of the learning process" He shrugged. "We must get him and Brooke together more often, he'll be crawling and talking in no time. The Tait's have always had a certain charm towards the Mackenzie's" He gave her a little wink.

Reese gently scooted a little closer to him once more. Trying to snuggle a bit into his arms. Chris was one of the few people she knew to be really there for her. He truly listened to her, he cared, he was always so sweet and he made her laugh. She smiled, “True, and Mackenzie’s have always had a weak spot for the Taits.” Or maybe she just had a weak spot for Christian. “I miss you…” she suddenly whispered, her eyes focusing on the water in front of her.

Christian hugged her tighter to his side once he felt her move, gently hooking his free arm under her knees to swing her around so that her legs were draped over his lap. Anything to feel the closeness of her body like he had before he had grown so awkward in her presence. "What do you mean you miss me? I'm right here Miss Mack.." He asked quietly, kissing the side of her head.

The moment her legs fell over his lap her arms wrapped themselves around his waist. Letting her head rest against his shoulder she buried her forehead against the bare skin of his neck. She shrugged, closing her eyes. “I’m not sure I just miss you lately. Maybe I’m just being weird…it’s hard to explain.” She wasn’t sure how to explain what she was feeling. But being in his arms right now felt so good. He always made her feel special and most of all a little loved.

Christian tensed for a brief moment as Reese rested her forehead on his over sensitive neck, his breathing quickening rapidly. He shouldn't have done this, put himself in this position when he knew that he wouldn't be able to control himself. "Try..I'm sure it isn't that hard.." He pressed, biting down on his bottom lip.

He thought she was overreacting? Or did he think she was just being a silly girl? “Right...I’m sorry I mentioned it.” Opening her eyes the grip she had on his waist weakened. She had hoped Chris would have understood but he didn’t. Reese felt lonely even though she was surrounded by friends and family. It was hard to explain and sometimes she felt stupid for feeling that. Apparently Chris thought so too.

The only thing Christian couldn't understand was why she was apologizing to him. She hadn't done anything wrong. He was just curious as to why she stated she missed him when he had always been one call away other than the fact that he had trouble being himself around her lately. He loosened his grip too, bringing his hand up to stroke her cheek softly. Most of his nerves depleting in his confusion. "Talk to me Reese..I'm a good listener"

For a moment she bit her lip, forcing herself from letting a tear run down her cheek. “I know you are…I just…” she started but her voice trailed off for a moment as she felt him brush her cheek. “You know, during breakfast..” she started softly again, “…the great hall can be filled with people but it feels like I’m the only one there. The common room can be filled with my friends but it doesn’t feel like they are there.”
Her eyes were focused on the grass, not being able to look at him. Reese felt like she was nagging, like she was being silly and shouldn’t feel like this. “I just feel alone Chris…and it hurts.”

Christian nodded his head as she spoke, knowing exactly what she was talking about. He felt like that almost every day. He didn't have many friends besides Reese and his twin. People didn't know how to handle everything that was Christian Tait. "I understand.." He whispered, stopping his stroking to turn her cheek towards him so that he could look in her eyes. "I feel it too..there's nothing to be ashamed of"

Her eyes quickly travelled up to look into his when he said he understood. “You…do?” He understood? He didn’t think she was crazy, or weird? She knew that her brothers wouldn’t understand. But Chris did? She didn’t even understand it herself. There were people out there who had it so much worse than she did. Reese felt like she shouldn’t complain about her life. That she had no right to do so.
Leaning in she suddenly pressed a soft kiss on his cheek. “I wish that you wouldn’t understand. I don’t want you to feel like I do. You don’t deserve that.” He didn’t, maybe she did for some reason. But Chris sure didn’t.

"I don't want you to feel that way either Miss Mack. You don't deserve it. You are an amazing beautiful woman who only deserves the best.." Christian replied, his face turning a deep shade of crimson as she pressed her soft lips to his cheek. He wanted desperately for those lips to move a couple inches to the right to rest on his own. "But I know how you feel. It hurts to be alone sometimes..especially now that Brooklyn is permanently back into my life" He admitted shyly.

The words that left his lips made her heart warm up. Before she knew what she was doing Reese had laid her hand on his cheek, turned his head a little to only press her lips against his in a soft kiss. Closing her eyes she pulled back the tiniest bit to press another soft kiss on his bottom lip. She wasn’t drunk, she wasn’t high and still it felt like she wasn’t in control of her own body. Not that she didn’t want to kiss Christian but kissing your best friend could either turn out great or mess things up even more. Her head screamed at her she shouldn’t do this, that she was making a mistake. But her heart had already decided what to do long before her head had. And if there was one thing Reese did it was listening to her feelings, to her heart. Sometimes it turned out alright, sometimes it didn’t.

Christian froze in surprise as the lips that he had always dreamed of descended on his. It was a few moments before he reacted, his tongue sliding across her bottom lip with more passion and enthusiasm than what he would have liked to show. It was better than what he had imagined to be, which also meant that it was too good to be true. He gently slid her off of his lap, breaking the kiss by turning his face away from her. Hiding the silent tears that rolled down his pale cheeks. He didn't want to be her biggest mistake, no matter how bad his heart ached for her.
