Every year there were a few days that were a darker days than all the other ones. Which wasn't something weird since most people had days they would rather skip. There wasn't much wrong with this typical friday and yet Reese had locked herself up in an empty classroom. Before breakfast would really start she had gone down to the kitchens, got herself some tea and had headed down to this classroom.
Sitting in a window sill she had pulled her legs up and was staring out of the window. The now empty mug was placed somewhere on an empty table. Reese's dark brown hair hung loose over her shoulders, framing her face.
Reese didn't like living in the past cause you couldn't change anything about. Which is why she never spoke much about her own past, where she came from and such. There were probably a hand full of people who knew what was going on. Just this one day she couldn't let go off. It just followed her around.
Last night she had left Nathan with her brothers who already knew they shouldn't ask questions. It was just how things went with her every year when this day passes. Never had it been a day to celebrate. Instead of it being a day full of joy, parties and friends Reese distanced herself from everyone.
Why?
It was her birthday.

November 17th. That date was the reason for Reese’s sudden disappearance for as long as he could remember. That’s why Christian wasn’t surprised to roll over in bed and find himself alone. He had taken to crawling into bed at night with her since the day they had gotten together. He wasn’t a big fan of sleeping alone, he needed something soft and warm to cuddle with.
He dressed in his nicest pair of fitted blue jeans and black button up shirt with a hot pink tie to give his outfit a little bit of his flair. He was a queen and d**ned proud of it. He gave Brooklyn to Addy for the day. Today was his first opportunity to get some alone time with his girlfriend without kids and he wasn’t going to pass this up.
He found her in the first classroom he checked, the one he often found her alone in during his stalker days, looking as beautiful as ever sitting in the window sill. “Thought you could hide from me today did you?” He asked casually, leaning his shoulder against the door frame. “Let’s see..that’s how many whippings? 18? Wow..my little girl is growing up”

Reese had tried to see the fun in birthdays, or well her own birthday that is. She just couldn’t. How could you be happy on the day that your parents decided to get rid of you? Or that is how she had thought before she knew the truth about her real parents. Last year she had found her dad and she knew he had only put her up for adoption to protect her. Yet, on that very same day her mother had been killed and that idea still made Reese sad. So she’d rather skip the entire day, which is why she never threw a birthday party. Her brothers did got her a present, it was waiting for her when she would show her face tonight in the common room. They always did.
Course she would attend other people’s birthdays. Those were fun, but just not her own.
A few silent tears had run down her cheeks which she quickly rubbed away when she heard her boyfriends voice. Turning her head a little so she could look at him, a faint smile appeared on her lips. “You know I try to every year and yet you always manage to find me don’t you?” her voice soft, perhaps even a little hoarse. She didn’t mind him finding her as long as he wouldn’t throw her a party or something. She nodded when he stated she had turned 18, “Look at you, all dressed up looking handsome as ever.”
At least he had dressed up. The only things she was wearing were some dark jeans skirts, her brown boots and a light grey top. Nothing fancy for a birthday girl.

Of course Christian wasn't stupid enough to throw her a party, he knew better than to force her into an uncomfortable situation that she didn't want to be in. The last time he had tried it ended up in a complete disaster, something that he had regretted ever since. "That's right.." He nodded, chuckling lightly. "You were never any good at playing hide and seek. I was successful on my first try"
He glanced down at himself as she mentioned him being all dressed up and then back to Reese, giving her outfit a good once over. She looked beautiful and he told her that too, although he had a very biased opinion when it came to all things Reese. He stepped towards her, no skipped was more like it, wrapping his arms around her and lifting her body from the window with one swift motion. Twirling once. Luckily his thin arms didn't give under the added weight. "All for you love.." He purred. "Happy birthday Miss Mack"

“Sometimes it’s not about hiding in the best spot you can find but hiding somewhere the person you want to be found by does.” Reese knew that if Chris or her brothers would come look for her they would find her here. She could have made it very difficult for them but she never did. Even though she always hid from most people she wanted to be found by one of those three guys. Eventually one of them always did. She ran a quick hand through her hair and let her eyes drift back to the windows again.
Before Reese figured out what he was up to she was suddenly lifted off from the window sill. Immediately her arms wrapped themselves around his neck, holding on tightly when he twirled around once. “Love you…” she said quietly, pressing a kiss to his cheek. She couldn’t say thanks cause to her it wasn’t a happy birthday. But she loved him for finding her.

Christian didn't return the "L" word to her, she knew that he had trouble saying it out loud. He had said it enough to her to last for awhile he thought. He spun her one more time, catching her lips with his as he sat her back down on her feet. Hands coming up to cup her cheeks, keeping her there for a few moments longer.

Reese was the kind of girl who wanted to make sure that other people were happy. That they would feel loved, that they knew they meant a lot to her and such. For her that meant cuddling or telling them she loved them at random times. Christian didn’t say it half as much as she did which was alright with her. Cause when he said it she knew he truly meant. Although at times it did hurt a little when he wouldn’t say it when she did need to hear those words.
Her arms slipped from his neck as he sat her down on her feet again. She planted her hands on his chest while her eyes closed as she returned the kiss. Chris was a real sweetheart and could already make her feel a little better with something as simple as a kiss. “Don’t you have class today?” she asked quietly when the kiss ended. Wrapping her arms lightly around his waist she leaned against him, her head resting against his shoulder. She knew she had class but skipping it was such a better idea for this day.

Christian didn't mean to be like that. He just didn't understand the feeling of being in love and therefore didn't want to say it too often in fear of getting his hopes up. Reese should know by now that he was completely and utterly in love with her deep down. He dropped his hands down to her middle, traces small hearts on her back with the tips of his fingers. d**n she was beautiful. His hazel eyes filled with pure lust.
"Yes I have class..but I knew you would pawn off Nate to one of your brothers and come hide here. I gave Brooklyn to Addy so I'm all yours today. I can't leave you here all by your lonesome. Whether you like it or not Miss Mack today is your birthday and I'm going to spoil you as I should.." He nodded firmly, showing her that he wasn't backing out anytime soon. "Would you like your gift now or later?"

Even though Reese was far from being an innocent inexperienced girl she still couldn’t help but to blush. A faint pink colouring her cheeks when she felt him draw hearts on her back. Those soon being followed by his hazel eyes gazing down in hers. Yet they were filled with an entire different look, which made her cheeks turn into a deeper shade of pink. It almost made her wonder what dirty little thoughts were going round in his head…and if he was willing to share.
Yet she managed to keep herself from asking and just pressed a kiss on his jaw. “You are skipping class and get me a present?” Wasn’t he an amazing guy or what? “Depends. If it is a good present I’d suggest you give it to me now so I can thank you properly for it for the rest of the day.” Which he could take in any way he wanted to.

Christian didn't notice her blush. His mind was far too preoccupied by the beauty in front of him, plus the way he could almost see down the front of her shirt if he stretched his neck far enough without being to conspicuous about it. That was something he had seen before, the complete Mackenzie. He was saving that moment for a special occasion, doing things right for once.
"Depends on if its good?" He repeated with an arch of a well manicured eyebrow. "How rude. It's the thought that counts. But yes..I think this would be good enough for your liking"Chris chuckled lightly. He took a step back, breaking the embrace and shoved a hand into his back pocket. Pulling out a thin rectangular box. "I bought this way before we ever started..you know..I wanted to find a way to convince you to be mine.." He said as he opened the box. Inside was large diamond heart set on a silver chain. "My heart belongs to you..always have an always will..no matter what happens. If you want it of course.."

Reese Mackenzie was a girl who wasn’t hard to please. The things that made her happy, feel special and meant the most to her were the little things. Like a red rose on Valentine, a loving kiss in the morning, a drawing from her baby boy. The little things showed how much someone really loved you and that is all she wanted. To be loved. Fancy dinners, expensive jewellery, vacations were fun but you didn’t need to do such things to win the heart of a Mackenzie.
She smiled, loving it to tease Chris like this. “Honey you know I’m already happy that you are here with me, now.” Which meant he had cleared his day, even let Addy take care of Brooke, to be with her. Reese’s eyes widened when he opened the box and showed her the necklace. “Oh my God… Chris…” she whispered, totally surprised by the size of the heart. Not to mention it was entirely made out of one diamond!
For a moment a lump formed in her throat and she didn’t need to swallow a couple of times before she was sort of able to speak again. Her eyes went from the necklace up to Chris, back to the necklace and back up to Chris again. “I don’t know what to say…I mean…” she had never gotten a gift like this before. Not even her engagement ring Jake had given her had been anything fancy, just a silver band with one small diamond in it. Reese hadn’t know what to say then and now Chris had gotten her this big of a gift she had no idea how to thank him.
“Of course I want it…” she softly continued. Standing on her toes she pressed a loving kiss to his lips. “You don’t need to buy me expensive gifts when all I want is right here.” placing her hand on the place his heart were. She smiled, loving it he could be so romantic. Reese Mackenzie was definitely a romance kind of girl. “It’s gorgeous Chris, thank you.” Taking the necklace carefully from the box she held it in her hands to look at.

Christian shook his head. "Yes I know that..you'd be happy with just sitting here together in silence. But it's not every day a girl turns eighteen. Let me have my fun with spoiling you for just one day please. I promise if you let me this one time I won't ever ask it of you again.." He said quietly, his voice almost pleading for her cooperation with this. She needed to acknowledge her day at least once in her life.
He took another step back in surprise, not knowing how to take her reaction. She either hated it or loved it, he was hoping for the latter. He didn't think he could handle another rejection. But then she said she wanted it and he let out a breath that he hadn't noticed he had been holding. "I don't have to..but I want to. Now you can always have my heart with you, even when i'm not around.." He wouldn't tell her how much he had paid for the gift, she would force him to give take it back if he did. The Tait's were known for their money.
"Your welcome.." He whispered, gently taking the necklace back from her and turning her around to help with the clasps. "There..I knew it would look beautiful on you"

Reese couldn’t do anything else than just nod and smile. This was really unbelievable and she was still amazed with this gift. It was a gift she would never ask of something nor expect someone to give her this. Chris probably paid a fortune for the necklace! “Alright…” she finally whispered, letting him have his way in spoiling her. Although she figured the spoiling would be over with after this gift cause this present was just….huge!
“You’re such an amazing guy Chris, and sweet, and cute and like, so much more things.” she said as she let him turn her around. As he put the necklace around her neck she looked down and could see the heart hang just perfectly right above the edge of her shirt. Reese turned around again, grabbed his hands and just looked up at Chris smiling. “You have my heart too Chris, no matter what. That will never change.”

Christian rolled his eyes at her rant about how perfect he was, swooping in to plant another firm kiss to her lips to quiet her as he turned her back around to face him. His arms wrapped around her middle, long fingered hands sliding down the back of her thighs were he lifted her on top of the nearest table. "You know Miss Mack, you are probably the only person in school who still thinks that about me. I'm still waiting for you to change your mind.." He sighed.

“Don’t you ro….” but her words got cut off when he kissed her again. For a second or two she tried to mutter something against his lips but eventually gave in and returned the kiss. Reese giggled when he suddenly lifted her up to put her down on the table a moment later. “I’m sure you have dozens of secret admirers although I really don’t feel like sharing you.” Well, except with Brooke of course but that was like sharing in an entirely different way. Pulling him closer with her fingers wrapped around the edge of his jeans she made him stand in between her legs. “You’re stuck with me mister and you better get used to it.” she said, while she let her hands drift over his sides to only shove them in his back jeans pockets.
