Tiny as she may be, Imogen Chase was a sucker for sweets. Believe it or not; take it or leave it. They were a guilty pleasure of hers- well, one of them, anyway. Sweets of any kind. Chocolates, gummy foods, pastries..you name it, she ate it. It always was a mystery to everyone just how she maintained such a taut figure. To be honest, this even baffled Imogen, herself. Though, she took great pride in the fact that she could intake as many calories as she wanted and still stay in shape without lifting a finger (not literally speaking, of course), while most other girls would have to exercise tirelessly to do so. It was positively delightful, for Imogen.
Honeyduke's Sweetshop is where Imogen's love for sweets lead her. She sauntered down the aisle, a basket in hand to hold everything as she grabbed random sweets off of the shelves, without paying much attention to what they actually were. One of these days, she was going to pick up something incredibly revolting...one day. But until that day came, Imogen would continue to carelessly waltz down the aisles, indulging in her beloved sweets.
Though, it wasn't as if Imogen just randomly came to Honeyduke's. There was a reason for her sweet spree. And to be honest, Imogen was positively estatic. Why? Well, the new school year would be starting soon! Then she could return to her home. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Not that she didn't have a house- if you knew Imogen Chase, you knew all too well that she lived in a ridiculously enormous mansion, with more money than she could even spend. But a home and a house were two different things. A home was a place you could call your sanctuary. Your safe haven. Where you feel most comfortable at. Hogwarts was all these things to Imogen.
Not many people actually knew the real Imogen. Most thought she was an attention-seeking spoiled b*tch...which, she was. But they failed to see past that. Failed to see that she was actually a person, with more depth than met the eye. But hopefully this year, that would change. People might start seeing who she really was, and maybe...just maybe, she could slowly but surely let her guard down.
All she needed was someone to look past her material posessions, and love her for who she was. Even if it was just a good friend. She wasn't desperate for a long-term relationship...although, that would be nice. And for the first time...Imogen was ready to take that big leap. It didn't even matter what house that person may be in. Yes, even Gryffindor. If she wanted people to accept her for who she was, then she couldn't be a hypocrite. She had to look past what house people were in, and what their blood status was.
This year was going to be a new, exciting adventure for Imogen Chase. She could see it already. Which only made her overflow her basket with even more sweets, and saunter down the aisle with a little more pep in her step. Can anyone say...sugar rush?

There was a loud CRASH! outside the shop. A flock of scared birds flew frantically past the Honeydukes window. The door of the candy shop opened and in walked a rather frazzled Serena Lee trying in vain to brush all the dust off her clothes. She had misjudged the her landing (she had been flying from Hogwarts to Hogsmead), nicked the side of the store, and crashed. Ironically it was a very similar type of accident that had caused her to win the Quidditch Cup for Hufflepuff last year, but personal victories were always far from Serena's mind. Right now she was embarassed, and hoped that no one had seen her (though she knew that would be impossible.)
Serena was wearing her Quidditch uniform, with a rather large cloak. She had an odd habit of combining "normal" or muggle clothing with Witch clothing, and she hadn't quite gotten it down. Though ironically the things she wore always looked strangely beautiful on HER, on anyone else they would have been a mess. But Serena seemed to come from another place and another time, and her clothes suited her.
"Oh hi Imogen!" She said. "We just finished pratice over at Hogwarts and I thought I'd come down here and get a snack. Got to get started early!" Imogen and Serena were the unlikelest of friends. A Slytherin socialite, and a sweet Hufflepuff. But friends they were, and CLOSE friends too. Serena was glad to see Imogen. Neither of them really had homes to go to, so they understood how the other one felt during the off months in the summer. At least Serena had Quidditch, Imogen just had to wait it out until classes started.

There Imogen was, minding her own business, still sauntering innocently down the aisles, when a quite audible noise was heard, coming from- outside, it seemed. Now sparked with curiosity, Imogen turned to see what the ruckus was, when a familiar voice sounded right next to her. An all too familiar voice, really. Make no mistake, the girl was Serena Lee. Imogen turned to face her, a brilliant grin spread across the brunette's facial features.
Imogen let out a squeal of absolute delight and flung her arms around Serena's neck, the basket she was previosuly holding now on the ground, with half of its items out of the scattered on the ground. Perhaps this was a bit of an exaggerated welcome, but it was clear that Imogen had greatly missed the company of Serena Lee. After having one hell of a summer, filled with partying, summer flings, one-night stands, vacations to exotic islands- the whole nine yards, really- it was always comforting to see someone whom you adore. Someone who makes you feel at home.
After a tight embrace, Imogen let Serena go and stepped back, still beaming. "I've missed you, darling! How was summer for you?" she asked, tilting her head to the side, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. Serena had come over to her manor for a week or so somewhere in the beginning of the summer, but after that, they had barely kept in touch, sadly. Though Serena was busy with her quiddich every summer, so it was something the two were used to.

"Horrible!" Serena said as she waved her wand lifting Imogen's basket into the air, and refilling it with her candy. She enchanted it to follow them around as the walked through the store - a spell she had used frequently since finding out she was a Witch as she was very accident prone.
Serena smiled back at Imogen. She giggled a little inside. Yes, Imogen would always be a wild girl, always be part of the socialite scene, but at the end of the day Imogen felt like home, and she knew Imogen felt the same way about her. Whatever luxurious things she took part in she knew they would always come back to their friendship. Home - that's what held them together.
"My parents were away for most of the time, but they finally managed to come home for a long weekend and insisted on taking me on a trip to Ireland - you know, "family bonding." Only mum and dad were always on their cell phones as usual. I kept trying to sneek back to Hogwarts, but Semena always caught me and brought me back. Thank goodness Quidditch has started back up! I was going out of my mind!" Serena enchanted a basket of her own and began to pull things off the shelves. She treasured these moments alone with Imogen. She knew that once school started and Imogen's Slytherin buddies were around... well, she didn't want to think about that just yet.

"Aww, I'm sorry dear! If it makes you feel any better, my parents dragged me along to Fiji- which, I wasn't complaining about. Though, they never mentioned a thing about 'family bonding'. Just wanted time to themselves. They didn't even know where I was 99% of the time, and as usual, didn't care," she shrugged. "But I didn't either. The farther away from them, the better. Besides, the boys in fiji are rather easy on the eyes." Imogen said, with her trademark devious smirk. That mischeveous glint in her eyes.
Oh, a wild girl Imogen Chase would always be. The lifestyle was addictive. Something she couldn't seem to stay away from. But, why should she? She was young, naive, and carefree. Often, Imogen found herself in dilemmas from breaking rules and whatnot- but it was nothing her parent's money couldn't fix. Her life was luxurious, and if you asked Imogen, she would amit that she's spoiled down right rotten...and she loves it.
Though, underneath all that, she would always appreciate Serena. Always value their unique friendship. She was the closest to true family that Imogen had, and often found herself wishing they were sisters. However, only a very, very select few actually knew this side of Imogen- Serena included, of course. As for her Slytherin buddies...well, they came after Serena.

Serena looked enviously at Imogen. She wished she had her looks, and especially her luck with the boys. She had never had a serious boyfriend, and she would be devistated if she managed to graduate from Hogwarts without one.
"So..." Serena teased, "Are we going to see you on the Slytherin House team this year?" Serena giggled. She had once taken Imogen flying and Imogen hadn't gotten more than two feet off the ground before she shreaked in terror and hovered back down. She always thought Imogen would be great at it, if she just learned to master her fear.
"By the way" Serena added "I'm officially taking you up on your offer to stay with you this Christmas. I've decided it's about time I had some fun in my life! And if I have to spend one more holiday with my parents!" Serena erupted in laughter when she mentioned having more fun. It was certainly true, but try as she might she would NEVER be a party girl. Besides, alcohol just made her go to sleep. But she would love to see what that world was like, being pretty, lots of friends, and most importantly, time to hang out with Imogen.

I suppose you could say Imogen had luck with boys. Though, she wasn't one for serious relationships. Not until she found love, of course. Deep down inside, she yearned for love. Tender, affectionate, passionate love. Romeo and Juliet love...kidding. Sweet, but too tragic for Imogen. And then, a genius plan formed in her twisted, but brilliant mind. Perhaps she'd play matchmaker this year, for her dearest friend Serena. She was far too gorgeous and kind-hearted to not have a boyfriend.
Imogen gave a snort of laughter at Serena's question. Right. That was gonna happen. "Sadly, I think not love. Perhaps I'll go flying with you sometime soon, though. Slowly conquer my fear." She grinned. She trusted Serena enough to get on a broom with her. And if she was ever to overcome her fear- Serena would be the person to help her accomplish that goal.
"Really!?" Imogen exclaimed, clapsing her hands together excitedly. Oh, what a truly gleeful day for Imogen. It seemed as though this year, her and Serena were going to become closer than ever. "That means you can come on vacation with us, then! Oh, for the love of Merlin. This is fabulous!" At this point, she was practically jumping up and down. And they were in a candy shop. How very...suitable. Imogen looked like a little kid, overwhelmed with the amount of sweets in the store.

Serena laughed. Usually SHE was the giddy one, but Imogen was sure keeping up today! "Oh! By the way," Serena said "I got this for you. The one pratical thing to come out of going to Ireland." Serena pulled out a beautiful necklace with an intricate Celtic knot charm on the end. It had a beautiful, classic and elegant design. Serena pulled out her necklace, it was the match to Imogens - though not exactly. Serena's was more whimiscal. "They're Celtic friendship charms" Serena said. "Yours represents elegance and power - the symbol of the ancient Mages. Mine's for kindness and courage, and has the symbol of the faeries. They glow white when we're near each other, pink if the other's happy, blue if they're sad, and red if they're in danger. When you give one to someone it means that they're your sister." Serena smiled shyly in her special way.

At the sight of the necklace, Imogen's eyes lit up in an instant. She let out a gasp of awe and delight. Another thing Imogen was a sucker for: jewelry. She owned a rather large amount herself, but nothing she owned compared to this particular necklace. It had that..look about it, that you just couldn't turn away from.
And so Imogens stood, admiring the neckace. Elegance and power. It was..so perfect for Imogen. Serena knew her better than her own parents, pathetic and sad as that may be. Imogen recieved lots of gifts, but this was no ordinary gift. Celtic friendship charms. The idea itself was enticing, as well as the rare beauty of the two necklaces. Little did Serena know, this just became the most treasured possession of Imogen Chase.
"Serena, it's amazing..they both are." she said, with a genuine smile, a soft expression on her face. "Here, you can even do the honors of putting it on me, and then I can do the same for you." Imogen suggested, with a grin and nod, moving her hair away from her neck.

Serena was thrilled by Imogen's response. She was the only family Serena had really. Sometimes she wondered how two such different people could end up being such good friends. Especially with House "typing" in the way. What no one seemed to know was how close so many people had been to being placed in different houses. Serena had almost been placed in Gryffindor, and Imogen, well in Serena's mind Imogens steadfastness, and deep kindness made her an excellent canidate for a Hufflepuff (though Imogen would scoff at the idea!) Really all the students were a lot more alike than most people wanted to admit. That's why, Serena thought she was so good at hanging out with people from different houses, she saw past differences. She prided herself on the fact that her house was supposed to have that quality, yet Hufflepuffs were just as judgemental as Slytherins. Ever since Cedric Diggory's tragic death years ago the Hufflepuffs had considered themselves the tragic heros of Hogwarts. If Gryffindor's were the bold heros, Slytherins were the cunning royalty, and Ravenclaws were the braniacs, then Hufflepuffs saw themselves as the Romeos and Juliets, the Frodos, and all other such noble figures. But Serena thought a true friendship was worth more than any of these things.
Serena walked behind Imogen to put her necklace on. Suprisingly she didn't bump into one thing! She carefully fastened it on Imogen's neck, and instantly the beautiful charm started glowing bright white. "Well, we'll certainly have to hide them under our robes when we have class together, wont we!" Serena said as she turned around and handed Imogen her necklace. "There. True sisters, officially!" Serena said as her necklace began glowing. "Oh, and no one can ever take your necklace off, except for you or the person who has the matching charm."

The sorting hat was put to its true test when it came to sorting Imogen Chase. The girl had qualities from every house. Bravery, loyalty, and intelligence. Though, her cunning, arrogant, attention-demanding ways earned her the spot in Slytherin, along with her pure blood and extreme wealth. And the sorting hat had made a very wise choice. Slytherin was where Imogen belonged. She couldn't possibly imagine being in any other house. Imogen was born to be a Slytherin, following the footsteps of her parents, grandparents, and so on.
It wasn't that she was prejudice against other houses- not anymore, at least. For the most part, she looked past all that. A house didn't make you who you were. Nor did the purity of your blood. Imogen was learning that, thanks to Serena. If it weren't for her, she would probably be the same judgemental, rude Slytherin she once was. Make no mistake, Imogen still had her nasty ways. She was known to still belittle others, and wasn't always proud of that. It didn't help being amongst her fellow Slytherins. Peer pressure, if you may.
Imogen laughed and shook her head. "Of course not, Serena. We'll wear them loud and proud..and bright," she added, with a chuckle. Imogen wasn't ashamed to be friends with Serena. "Oh, that's brilliant!" she said, in response to the last part.

Imogen was indeed a true friend. She had never kept her friendship with Serena a secret. Nor had Serena, though she got A LOT of flack from the other Hufflepuffs about it. Yes, Imogen could gossip, but so could everyone else. She never would when it counted that that was a great quality.
"So," said Serena, "Did you finally get your OWL scores? What classes are you going to be taking this year?"
Serena had just gotten her OWLs in the mail. Fortuantely she'd squeeked by on everything. Not that it mattered, Serena was already being scouted by the Hollyhead Harpies, as well as some other Pro Quidditch teams. But it was a matter of pride. She wanted to be able to choose her classes. Besides, Hufflepuff was all about hard work, and what was the point of working hard if it didn't pay off?
"I've decided to take DADA, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Charms, Transfiguration, History of Magic, and yes, Potions." Serena let out a sigh. She hated Potions. She could never quite seem to get the hang of it. She was always just squeeking by. But it was an important skill to have, and she wanted to master it before she graduated. In the "real world" there wouldn't be anyone to correct her if she made a horrible mistake.

"Oh! I did, actually. Did well on them. Just another reason for me to be my parents' trophy child." Imogen rolled her eyes, shaking her head. She had come to accept that she would never be anything more to them than a trophy child. She tried convincing herself that it didn't phase her, and she didn't need their love. But sometimes, when she saw her friends with their parents, it hurt.
"I think I'll be taking those classes, as well." She nodded, not looking so enthusiastic about it. Unfortunately, she just didn't care about school this year. Her doing well only gave her parents a reason to use her for bragging rights. She knew they weren't actually proud of her.
Imogen was feeling quite...rebellious, really. And that was never a good thing, for those around her. Watch out, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Here comes Imogen Chase, in all her Slytherin glory.

"Congratulations!" Said Serena. "I'm so proud of you! I know how hard you worked on your Transfiguration OWL. Don't worry about your parents. One day you'll be hugely successful and when Rita Skeeter writes your biography you can tell her the truth about your parents."
Serena thought for a moment...
"What do you want to do when you graduate?" Serena asked. She knew Imogen hated some of those classes, and depending on her career path she didn't necessairily need to take all of them. She thought it might be helpful for her friend to not have so much pressure, and to only take the courses she was interested in.
"I wonder if we have them at the same time?" Serena pulled out her schedule and handed it to Imogen.
Mon - Care of Magical Creatures, Double Herbology Tue - DADA, Transfiguration, History of Magic Wed - Transfiguration, Charms, Double Potions Thur - DADA, Charms, History of Magic Fri - Care of Magical Creatures

Imogen let out a genuine grin. "Thanks, love. Or perhaps..I can just forget to even mention them." Ah, and that smirk of hers appeared. The one she always wore when devising some sort of twisted plan. It had almost become a trademark of hers, actually.
"I'm not exactly sure yet, which is why I'm taking every class that I might need for which ever career I choose," she shrugged. To be honest, she could handle them with no stress, anyway. Might as well be prepared for whatever she wanted to do with her life.
Though, if she really wanted, she could be a professional...traveler for the rest of her life, living off of her parents' money and traveling the world- in luxury, of course. Merlin knows they have enough. Besides, they deserved to have to support Imogen with whatever the hell she wanted for the rest of her life. Though, if they were actually caring, loving parents, it would be an entirely different story. But they didn't care. Probably never would.
