Something in the air was stirring against his senses. It wasn't really Reese, or Nathan, it was a different feeling. Similar to Deja vu, it was familiar. While at the same time completly foriegn. So it was during mid tickle when Alec froze, stiffening. Pulling his back straight, he took a moment to just take in what he was smelling, before he turned to look behind him. But, like all instances similar to these, nothing was there. Nothing he could see, anyway.
Swallowing, his brows furrowed for a moment in confusion. He could swear upon any dead man's grave, his grandmother's even, that there was something close by. Someone...but for all the range he could see, there were only students, and wondering professors. Nothing struck him as being the source of the sudden call.
Trying to shake it off, he decided that it must just be his head getting to him. Maybe he should have something more to drink soon, possibly he wasn't as full as he thought. Licking his lips unknowingly, a sign of shaking nerves, he felt Nathan's tiny hand on his arm, and he looked down. Innocence was ever present in those adorable eyes. Curiousity even better. Just wondering, Alec could tell, about what was pulling at his holders attention.
Running a finger gently across the side of Nathan's face, he could see the little one beginning to drift off to sleep. And just watching such a magical thing was warming his chest, "He's absolutely perfect, Reese." He spoke. The trance Nathan could put on people wasn't literal magic, but a miracle of its own. Even the toughest of men fell at that musical chuckle.
"Alec..." The wind caressed his ear, the breathed sound swam around his face. The scent only strengthening. His name was being called as if the air was singing to him, "Alec....." It happened again, he had to close his eyes as a wave passed over him. Causing him to bite his lip. He wasn't sure if Reese could hear it or not, but whatever the heck this was, it was distracting.

Yawning again Reese pushed the sunglasses back in her hair and closed her eyes. Now that Alec was here and watching Nathan, she could seize the moment and close her eyes for a few moments. Maybe even get a half an hour or snoozing if she got really lucky. Nathan was a good little guy but when he was having one of his bad nights he would wake up crying his little lungs out every other hour. Tonight had not been a very bad night but he had been awake three times though.
Reese didn’t notice the change going through Alec but would have definitely noticed something if she had not been having her eyes closed. She smiled, hearing Alec say Nathan was perfect. “Yeah, I make cute babies.” she said with a soft laugh. “Thank you, I really can’t imagine my life without him anymore.” Which she could have one and a half year ago, just before she found out she had been pregnant.
She tried to be a good mom but Reese never had a mom herself. So basically she was just winging it but hearing Alec compliment her son meant a lot to her. Then, for the next couple of minutes all was silent which was odd cause Alec usually chatted with her whenever he hang out with her. “Y’allright honey?” Reese asked, while opening her eyes again. They soon wandered over to the Gryffindor, to wait for him to answer her.

Reality was fading away. Alec was recognizing the music as a woman, a woman's voice. More along the lines of an angel. The warm air that held the song was chilling into something icy, yet strangely comforting. His muscles were relaxing, and the hold he was having on Nathan was loosening. Alec was trying too hard to hold on to this magical hypnosis, rather than the infant in his arms.
Taking a deep deep lungfull of that gloriously scented air, he soon heard her laugh. Hearty, and peaceful. So wondrous, and addicting, "I'm coming, baby..." It was if her lips were brushing against his ear, "I've found you..." Her voice songed. Within a moment he actually felt the spare moment of a mouth on his. No he wasn't reacting, but he was falling. Backwards.
Nathan fell from his arms, sliding down onto his thighs, and rolled to the blanket with a single bounce. A cry began to ensue, but Alec was too busy focusing on catching himself. When he came too half a second later, his arms jutted out instinctively behind him, preventing his true collapse.
If he had a beating heart it would be exploding from his chest. His blood was slow in movement, but it was ice cold. The feeling of heat was upon his throat, just below his ear. But he wasn't really in a good state of mind to check and see what the problem was. His eyes were blinking repeatedly, soon enough he started to shake his head, trying to get the thick fog from his mind.
What just happened?
What the hell was that???

Silence.
That was what she got in return as answer to her question. In the next few moments she watched Alec let go of Nathan who tumbled from his arms right onto the blanket. It all happened so fast she had no time to react to keep Nathan from falling on his back with a bounce. “Nathan!” she called out, her eyes widening when her little boy let out a cry.
The cry of her boy let a flow of adrenaline loose in her system, making her being near him in a split second. Taking him up in her arms she held him against her chest as the tears started to run down his cheeks. With worried eyes she studied his tiny head but couldn’t find anything that pointed to him being injured. Which was an relief but hearing him cry did caused her pain, knowing that he was upset.
Rocking him in her arms she whispered soothing words to him to try to get him to calm down. “Alec what’s the matter with you?! You can’t let him fall like that!” she somewhat snapped, her head turning to look at him. He still hadn’t said anything but had just let Nathan fall from his arms?! It was dangerous for small babies like him to fall, especially when they would end up falling on their heads. Some serious damage could have been done in matter of seconds.
Yet, he wasn’t reacting to any of her words right until he apparently decided that catching Nathan wasn’t possible but keeping himself from falling was? “Hello? World to Alec?” her voice annoyed and yet worried. It wasn’t like him to just let Nathan fall.

Reese's snappy comment somehow managed to break on through, "Huh?" Although it took a bit longer to really register what had happened, what he had done. Alec noticed the factor that Nathan was no longer in his arms, and his brows furrowed a bit as he tried to figure out how the baby had transferred holders. That is, until he recalled the voice, and the temporary feeling of falling. He must've dropped Nathan...let him go...
Eyes widening, breath caught in his throat, and he felt a sweat arising upon his forehead. Actually, more along the lines of his whole body--he was scared, plus nervous as hell, "Oh sh*t," Lately he had been trying to do away with his swearing, but it just rolled off his tongue in the heat of the moment.
Pushing himself forward, he was situated upon his stinging knees, and leaned in to get a quick look at the baby boy, making sure he was ok, "I didn't mean to...I jus...." Words flustered upon his tongue, Alec wasn't quite sure how to really ask his question, or how to phrase his apology, "Is he ok?" He went press gentle fingers to Nathan's cheek, but Alec noticed the little one cringe, unknowingly afraid of his touch. The boy was small, and fairly young, but being dropped like that...well...there were consequences...especially to the one that did the dropping.
"I just heard something, and I dunno...I wasn't meaning to drop him Reese, I don't even remember letting him go..." Trying to explain his position, while doing his best to hide the hurt from knowing he could've done permanent damage to the most important thing in Reese's world.

Reese turned her head away when she felt Nathan grab her shirt. Kissing the boy on his forehead she whispered soft words to him. “You’re okay honey. It’s okay, mommy is here with you.” Nathan was her everything, if something would happen to him she wouldn’t know what to do with herself. She felt her boy cringe in her arms as Alec tried to get close to him again. His trust was taken away, Alec had let him drop and even though it might have been accidentally for a baby it didn’t matter.
“Yeah, you just gave him a good scare.” Although she had been scared for a moment there as well. Still her eyes were on Nathan and when she heard his sobbing slow down she looked up at Alec again. “Hear what? It was deadly silent around here right until you dropped him.” He might have heard something with his enhanced hearing but Reese couldn’t see what could make Alec react the way he just had done.
Well one thing was for sure, Alec wasn’t going to hold Nathan again until he figured out what the hell just had happened. “I know but it doesn’t matter Alec. Nathan could have been seriously hurt.” Course he wouldn’t go throwing Nate around but he had to understand he should be more careful.

He winced at her words. Just the thought that he could've seriously hurt Nathan, well, it was hurting him. Like somebody just came up to him and slashed his chest wide open, bleeding from the heart. And despite the factor that he was still young, and that he was what he was, he considered Nathan almost like a son. It was wierd, but Alec couldn't stand to harm him, or even see him harmed.
Pushing his fingers through his hair, he closed his eyes in shame, and his head fell towards the ground for a moment. Going through what had happened, he was trying to figure out the part of the story where he let the little baby go, but he couldn't. Over and over again, still nothing...
Opening his eyes again, he looked back at Reese, "Look, I'm really sorry. If you don't want me holding him, I guess thats fair" He'd feel weightless, empty, but it would have to be his punishment, "But I honestly have no idea, one second its funny faces, and the next this, this woman, or the wind or something was calling to me and she sounded so familiar, and I dunno it was just, just like a trance or some...someth...ing..." His words trailed 'n cut off as a face crossed over his mind.
Within seconds he was able to place the name with its source, and his eyes widened, "Oh my god." Words deep, dark, and etched with pain. Beyond any description.
